Is Diabetes in your future?

You probably don't have to go to far within your family or circle of friends to find someone with Diabetes. In our family my Mom was diagnosed with it over thirty years ago. We watched her suffer with it as the complications increased during the last years of her life. Sonia's Mom also was diagnosed with Diabetes a few years ago and is starting to experience the complications. We also have Nieces and Nephews that are dealing with Diabetes as children.

When my Mom passed away in 2006, I started to become concerned about our health. In fact, that is one of the main reasons I started taking USANA Supplements. First to improve Sonia's and my health, then to keep our Children healthy, and then to educate family and friends.

Our own education about Diabetes continues to grow. We have friends that have made positive changes to their life through diet, exercise, and supplementation that are seeing improvements in their blood sugar and overall health. We also know people that continue to lose the quality of life they once knew as the disease takes it's eventual toll. Diabetes will never go away but you can delay the effects that it will cause to your health. We urge you to make a maximum effort to understand Diabetes and the ways you can live without insulin. You should always check with you own Doctor before you eliminate or reduce insulin.

We keep hearing about 1 in 3 babies born after 2000 will have Diabetes and it increases to 1 in 2 for Hispanic and African Americans. Recently news came out about 1 in 3 American having Diabetes by 2050.

Dr. Ray Strand  has studied about Nutrition since the 1990's and has written and spoken about Diabetes and the years of insulin resistance that builds in our bodies before we are ever diagnosed with Diabetes. You don't just wake up one morning and have Diabetes.

He recently wrote about Diabetes being a choice. He begins with "One of the greatest challenges to our health care system is the dramatic rise in the incidence of both obesity and diabetes. In the U.S. and Canada, diabetes has increased more than 500% during just the last generation. More than seventy percent of adults and more than thirty percent of our children are considered to be either overweight or obese. In spite of spending more than 30 billion dollars each year on diets and weight loss programs, the rate of obesity has tripled in this country in the past thirty years. Even more alarming is the fact that the Center for Disease Control (CDC) has projected that one-third of our children born after the year 2000 will become diabetic." Read more from Dr. Strand.

Vitamin E could add years to you life

Vitamin E has been studied greatly over the years. Most of the time the studies do show the benefits of Vitamin E. Recently vitamins E & C when used together were shown they can increase the life expectancy to some male smokers.

Vitamin E may increase the life expectancy of males who have high dietary vitamin C intake and smoke less than a pack per day

ScienceDaily (2011-01-20) -- Depending on the level of smoking and dietary vitamin C intake, vitamin E supplementation may extend the life-span of restricted groups of men, according to a new study. Several large randomized trials of humans found that vitamin E supplementation does not reduce mortality. However, depending on the level of smoking and dietary vitamin C intake, vitamin E supplementation may extend the life-span of restricted groups of men. ... > read full article
